Meet Brittany & Christina
Brittany and Christina meet in 6th grade Home Ec class. Our friendship continued despite Christina’s family moving away after Freshman year. We even went to the same college for two years. We have been friends a total of 24 years (not inluding the "dark period" where we broke up). We have so many memories from the different seasons of our lives that we have always navigated together.
Due to us living in different states, we have found creative ways to keep in touch. We talk almost daily, we facetime with the kiddos, and meet up half way in Southwest Michigan area so we can visit more often, since a car ride with kids for 8 plus hours is AWFUL!!!!!
Since we both became moms, a lot of our conversations consisted of us feeling overwhelmed. We like we were failing at motherhood and life. No matter how hard we tried, we always saw beautiful perfect pictures on social media depicting our fellow moms "nailing it" and we were feeling like we were “less than”. We felt like everyone else had life and motherhood figured out except us. After talking to others, to learn their secrets the more we realized we are not the only ones out there feeling this way. Social media does not reflect the full reality. As a whole, we as a society only post the good stuff , while ignoring the not so perfect.
However, that's not real life. Motherhood is messy and beautiful, hard and rewarding, challenging and inspiring, exhausting and refreshing. Without talking about both we can't truly understand each other.
So, how did that frustration turn into Two Mom Friends?
The third musketeer to our trio was getting married! We were asked to give a co-speech….oh boy! After our heartwarming and witty speech, many guests (most tipsy) told us we were HILARIOUS and asked if we did stand-up comedy!
With big egos and some liquid courage, we started discussing an idea of doing a Mom Vlog. We had a message to share and it would require us to meet up ALONE for this project. We could be creative, express an important message AND have an excuse to see each other?! We were sold.
We started this journey without a specific goal or plan. After 6 months, we now know we want to create a network of moms to help each other navigate and normalize the struggles of motherhood, which some laughter along the way.
